Recreational Soccer Program

The Upper Arlington United Soccer Club Recreational Program introduces players to soccer in a welcoming, supportive environment. Designed for beginners and children who want to enjoy the game while learning the fundamentals, the program emphasizes participation, skill development, teamwork, and a positive experience on the field.

Whether a child is playing soccer for the first time or looking for a fun way to stay active, recreational soccer provides opportunities to practice new skills, make friends, and grow in confidence at their own pace.

Who Is the Recreational Program For?

The Recreational Program is a great fit for:

  • First-time soccer players learning the basics
  • Children ages 4 and older, subject to the club’s age-group availability
  • Players who enjoy soccer in a fun, low-pressure environment
  • Children developing coordination, ball control, and fundamental skills
  • Players building teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence

Fundamental Soccer Skills

Players are introduced to age-appropriate soccer fundamentals, including dribbling, passing, receiving the ball, shooting, and basic movement on the field.

Teamwork & Sportsmanship

Through group activities and game situations, players learn to cooperate, communicate, respect teammates and opponents, and participate positively.

Confidence & Positive Experience

Practice activities and playing opportunities help children become more comfortable with the ball, try new skills, and develop at their own pace without primary emphasis on competitive results.

What to Expect

The Recreational Program combines skill-building activities with age-appropriate soccer games and opportunities to participate as part of a team. Coaches guide players through fundamental techniques, explain basic game concepts, and encourage effort, participation, and sportsmanship.

As players gain experience, they can continue building their skills and understanding of the game in an environment designed to support their development and enjoyment.

Is Recreational Soccer Right for Your Child?

If your child is new to soccer, wants to learn the basics, or simply enjoys playing with other children, the Recreational Program may be a good starting point.
